Offer you website visitors a little social interaction! Traffic is important, no doubt. Organic traffic sent by search engines is many times a one time visit if you can’t capture the visitor attention. If you sell something or simply writing articles, you should give visitors a simple option that will get them back or refer your website to others. This way you could get some valuable traffic back.

One of the options for you to use is the Tell-a-friend form that will allow visitors refer you website to others. This recommendation form is great as the ‘word-of-the-mouth’ is like a contextual advertising.

Basically this form will allow any visitor send an email notification from your website to his/her friends. The notification will bring to referees attention that their friends found a website that could be of interest to them.

I found several options to do that:

Tell-a-friend scrip – this is mainly a script to put on your server, and when someone hits the Tell-a-friend button, a pop-up will launch where they will be able to add the email addresses of some of their friends and send them the notification about that interesting page they found.

You could visit Taming the Beast website for such a free script to use. What I really like at this script is that it refers automatically the link where the Tell-a-friend button was hit, and not the home page. This way referred visitors will get straight to the page they would be interested in. More, this script will also notify you that someone used this script, and will capture the details of who and whom they referred. This way you can make a list with all the email addresses that were interested in that subject and try to develop a newsletter for a later time.

One other option is the regular Bookmark button. We see it on so many websites, and some might think this is of no use. These Bookmarks are very helpful as someone who just landed on your website and found something interesting might want to bookmark the page for visiting it a later time and avoiding this way searching all over again for that subject.

To add such an option I could recommend the use of AddThis scripts that offers a great look and option of bookmarking for many social networks.
