I get to see many questions like how to create a website fast and easy, how to install a CMS like Joomla / Mambo / Wordpress etc, how to customize them, I get to see people posting requests and ready to pay for having someone install Joomla for them as they don’t know how to do that. Actually I also got some emails like this.

Now I wonder - is it so difficult to install a CMS and use it? I must say no, but as any new thing you learn, without a proper tutorial might seem more difficult than it is.

I think that the best thing to learn to develop a professional and dynamic website is using a CMS like Joomla / Wordpress or any other available out there.

First you should set up a server on your home computer. For this you must firtsly install XAMPP (it is a server package including PHP and MySQL). Don’t run away - it’s nothing to be scared off. Just have a look on the below video tutorial and you will get step by step instructions on how to do that.

Once you have installed XAMPP and your CMS (in the tutorial is Joomla, but the same works for any other CMS gender), you can start playing with it and see how it works. You will soon see that is more than easy to develop and run a great personal / community / business website. Once you have played with all the features, you just have to transfer your CMS files to your web hosting provider and that is all.

Good luck!
